Each year I set goals for my photography business. Each year I enter in a few senior portrait images into a prestigious photography contest with the best of the best from all over the globe and the competition is fierce. I have earned awards from my peers and honorable mention from the judges last year, but this year I made the Top 100 Best Photographers List! Thrilled to see my work being acknowledged as one of the best senior portrait photographers in the world. I also earned a Community Choice Award from my peers this year! So excited to learn which image submitted won the awards later this month which I will post in a few weeks when it is published internationally in the Senior Style Guides Top 100 Magazine.

Best Senior Pictures

Many seniors from the the Class of 2023 have come from various Wisconsin high school, near and far. So fun to photograph in and outside of our Waunakee photography studio. I truly appreciate those they chose K Jay Photos for their senior portraits, an award winning Madison WI Photographer. The photography studio, located just outside of Madison, WI, specializing in senior portraits, was buzzing with energy this past summer. So many wonderful high school seniors with a variety of passions and interests. Each senior, beautiful in their own way, allowing me to capture their beauty through my lens. What a treat.

Most popular question to our photography studio when booking senior portraits, what should we bring? Often our senior portrait customers have spent most of their childhood years practicing a hobby, sport or other interest. Our Madison WI photography studio always encourages our customers to bring along props to define those passions. To capture just a few senior pictures with those props, in most cases, does not take much time for the the photographer to include in the senior portrait session.

What to Wear and Bring

One of the most popular question asked when booking the senior portrait session is what to wear and bring? Here is a list of suggestions we offer to our high school seniors:

• Clothing that is comfortable and flattering (whether sitting or standing)
• Face powder to remove any shine that humidity and heat may cause.
• Hair brush and hair spray, especially for windy days.
• Most important a confident expression, preferably a smile

Often the photos with props are our customers favorite senior pictures. Sometimes, just getting in hand a volleyball for example, helps relax the high school senior for example that doesn’t like to have their portrait taken. Plus they end up with some cool sports senior portraits too! So don’t forget the sports equipment that has been an important part of their life.

Bring on 2023

Wow! What a year/ Thank you to all of the families and now friends who have trusted me to capture your senior portraits through my lens. I am incredibly grateful to pursue my passion for photography and that you chose me as your high school senior photographer. It’s more than just great senior pictures but a great experience I hope you found as well. This is such a special time for your high school senior and so important to document. For me, it’s more then just great senior pictures, but the entire experience. I have met so many amazing humans, getting to know each clients unique nature while creating artwork with your senior portraits. It’s truly a blessing.

Another Award!

Every year I enter a few of my favorite photos into the annual Senior Style Magazine contest. This year I had so many to choose from it was hard to decide. To my surprise, one of my images was chosen! Eek! If you only saw the very large list of prestigious photographers from all over the world entering, it is quite the honor. Junior Prom – Senior Pictures – Bring the dress!

Each year I have the chance to meet so many wonderful seniors. For those ladies that went to their Junior Prom, bring the prom dress to your senior session.  Just for a couple of your senior photos.  It doesn’t need to take long but because putting on the dress can sometimes be time consuming, make sure to book the Lot’s to Choose from Package giving us the extra time needed. Senior Pictures by Lake Mendota, Madison WI

This is the first high school senior that has wanted senior portraits with a row boat. He loves to row so why not take them by the Rowing club in Madison, WI on Lake Mendota. Taking these rower’s senior pictures were a “boat load of fun!”.  The beautiful sunset was a perfect backdrop to the setting. Now reserving class of 2021 senior portrait session.
